Established enterprise software vendors, such as CRM, HR, ERP, IT workflow and creative suites, whose revenue has historically been billed per user seat. They are adding AI agents inside existing products while investors question whether agents will shrink the number of seats customers need.
Representative public companies: Salesforce (CRM), ServiceNow (NOW), Workday (WDAY), Adobe (ADBE), SAP (SAP), HubSpot (HUBS), Atlassian (TEAM), DocuSign (DOCU). Named for context only, not as recommendations.
Research current as of September 12, 2026 · Adoption stage: Scaling deployments
By mid-2026 the large incumbents were reporting AI as a measurable, growing revenue line rather than a pilot. ServiceNow said its AI crossed $1 billion in annual contract value in Q2 2026. Salesforce reported Agentforce ARR above $1.5 billion in August 2026, up over 240% year over year. Workday said AI drove more than 25% of new ACV, with more than 5,500 customers using its agents. SAP embedded AI and Business Data Cloud in more than 90% of its 50 largest deals. Adobe said AI-first ARR grew more than 150%. These AI lines remain small against total revenue, and pricing is moving from seats toward credits and usage: GitHub moved Copilot to usage-based AI credits on June 1, 2026.

Projections grounded in what is happening now, not certainties. Each one names the signal that would confirm it.
WCLD -20% YTD and IGV -14% YTD already price part of this in. Salesforce, Workday, Oracle Cloud apps, SAP, Adobe horizontal, ServiceNow legacy seats, Atlassian — collectively the bleeders. Enterprise stickiness is real (NRR 104-106%, multi-year contracts, data gravity, compliance) and slows the velocity but does not change the direction.
The cannibalization mechanism is concrete: agents replace the humans that per-seat pricing bills for. Defense tactics include bundling AI as a discount-to-renew premium, vertical acquisitions of AI-native upstarts, and platform consolidation.
None of these tactics fully offset the unit-of-value shift, which is why the resistance figure (0.45) is moderate rather than high — incumbency is real but the structural pressure is one-directional.
A score of 1.00 = no change.
>1.00 means AI (net) boosts this industry's relative value.
<1.00 means AI (net) erodes it.
These are relative scores — how this industry's share of the economy shifts in relation to all 31 industries we track.
